PHILADELPHIA, March 31, 2017 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- At the Wharton People Analytics Conference today, Zoomi announced the release of No-Touch Individualization (NTI), a significant enhancement to their signature product, Zoomi EngineTM which assesses in real time how learners interact with information and predicts learner outcomes. The NTI feature now allows the system to diagnose weaknesses in a learner's understanding of specific course material topics and automatically prescribe individualized content served up in real time based on these weaknesses, resulting in more efficient learning without any instructor or content development intervention whatsoever.
"We are building the next generation of learning technology," said Dr. Christopher Brinton, Zoomi's Head of Advanced Research. "NTI is our most exciting breakthrough to date and promises to push the envelope on achievable learning efficiency once again, this time in a way that obviates additional content development."
How Does NTI Work?
When Zoomi's software first encounters any piece of content it subjects it to a battery of tests and probes to understand the topics and the contexts in which they appear. It then has available a store of content segments to reassemble later as needed.
As a learner interacts with a piece of content, Zoomi monitors for several "triggers" of confusion. A trigger could be as explicit as answering a quiz question incorrectly, or some less obvious behavior as recognized by Zoomi's Artificial Intelligence. When triggered, our system analyzes the topics associated with this segment and searches the course for the segments that have the most potential of clarifying these topics.
Without any human intervention, the system pulls together new combinations of information, down to the level of paragraphs and sentences. If a person continues to exhibit the same triggers, it will continue to serve up new combinations of custom content as long as doing so is still in line with maximizing the overall objective: learning efficiency.
What Makes NTI Unique?
Unlike current offerings on the market, NTI does not require extra work on the part of the content producer to tag or otherwise index the material. In addition, content can be developed using any tool and hosted on an organization's existing learning platform.
The automated prescription of individualized content based on fine-granular learning behavior is a first for any learning platform. Identifying weaknesses in understanding and providing customized content to meet an individual learner's needs without any instructor or content development intervention is also a first, made possible by Zoomi's deep learning algorithms. Efficient and effective learning is more readily achieved because learners move on in a course only when understanding is demonstrated. They do not need to return to previous chapters to review and relearn.
Zoomi, a performance optimization data analytics company, brings together the disciplines of predictive and prescriptive analytics, machine learning and data mining to glean insights and intelligence about a learner's behavior, cognitive and engagement preferences to synchronize learning with business outcomes. Zoomi's first-to-market technology delivers measurable ROI for corporate training and education programs. The company was founded in January 2015 by a global team of industry-leading engineers, developers and designers. Zoomi's headquarters are in Malvern, PA.
