Yellow Ribbon Fund, Inc. Promotes Mike Wilson to Executive Director

Yellow Ribbon Fund finds leadership from within

BETHESDA, Md., March 6, 2018 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Yellow Ribbon Fund (YRF) announced today that Mike Wilson has been named Executive Director. Wilson will be responsible for managing the organization's financial health, directing day-to-day operations and leading philanthropic programming for the non-profit, effective immediately. Wilson joined the YRF team in August of 2017 as Director of Operations and was promoted to Deputy Executive Director in September 2017.

Prior to his time at Yellow Ribbon Fund, Mike served in the U.S. Marine Corps for eight years, before being wounded in Marjah, Afghanistan. Following his military career, Wilson continued his service as a consultant for the U.S. State Department and the U.S. Department of Defense working in Iraq, Afghanistan, Burundi, Senegal, and Burkina Faso. He received his BA from Georgetown University in 2016.

Bill Scott, Chairman of Yellow Ribbon Fund's Board of Directors:
"It is with great pleasure that I can announce the YRF Executive Committee has unanimously decided to promote Mike Wilson to Executive Director. Mike has reenergized our staff, restructured and rebranded our core programs and services, created collaborative relationships with other key Veteran Service Organizations, and refocused our fundraising efforts. We are fortunate to have Mike leading the Yellow Ribbon Fund."

Mike Wilson, Executive Director of Yellow Ribbon Fund:
"I know the daily struggle our wounded warfighters and their families go through first-hand. A 2010 IED blast, while serving in Marjah, Afghanistan, resulted in a traumatic brain injury (TBI), back & neck injuries, hearing loss and PTS. I suffered from a stutter and it affects my cognitive and physical abilities to this day. I found my sense of purpose in serving a community that I was once a part of, and it is because of this, I couldn't be more proud to lead Yellow Ribbon Fund's mission."
