CHANTILLY, Va., Dec. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Two food professionals with more than 40 years of combined experience have joined the team at the Westfields Marriott Washington Dulles.
Executive Chef Todd Schofield and Director of Catering Sales Sharon Meyers arrive at an integral time at the hotel in Chantilly. Westfields Marriott has recently completed extensive renovations to Wellington's, its stylish and welcoming Chantilly restaurant, as well as redesigned its conference dining room. Twenty new guest rooms have been added, and the updated fitness center now boasts modern cardio equipment and free weights.
The Chantilly hotel also has introduced mobile-friendly apps that ease the scheduling and implementation of meetings and streamline the guest experience.
"We're proud to welcome Todd Schofield and Sharon Meyers to our team," said Scott McClinton, general manager of the Westfields Marriott. "Their expertise greatly enhances our ability to exceed expectations for guests who plan meetings and social events as well as dine at the hotel."
Schofield's love for cooking intensified in high school and led him to formal culinary studies at Newbury College in Massachusetts. His association with Marriott Hotels began in 1985 at Boston Marriott Copley Place and later took him to Dayton, Ohio, Orlando, Fla., and Palm Desert, Calif. He recently held senior food and beverage positions in the capital region at Key Bridge Marriott in Arlington, Va., and Fairview Park Marriott in Falls Church, Va. He resides in South Riding, Va.
Schofield said he believes flexibility will be the key to providing creative and customized cuisine for the diverse guests who enjoy the hotel's famous weekend brunch at Palm Court, dinner at Wellington's, lunch for a corporate retreat or a sit-down dinner for a gala wedding in the 9,109-square-foot Grand Dominion Ballroom.
A 1987 graduate of the University of Maryland College Park, Meyers comes to Westfields Marriott from The National Conference Center in Leesburg, Va., where she held a similar role since 2007. She previously worked at Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg and The Ritz-Carlton in Tysons Corner, Va. Meyers is an executive board member for the Loudon Free Clinic and council member for the United Way. She graduated from the Leadership Loudoun Class of 2010 and has been an active member of the Loudon County Chamber of Commerce Non-Profit Committee. Meyers resides in Leesburg, Va.
Meyers will be tasked with planning memorable events and receptions in the Westfields Marriott's 40,000 square feet of event space perfect for wedding receptions, ethnic celebrations, holiday parties, business meetings, fundraisers, trade shows and conferences in Chantilly.
