SEATTLE, Oct. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Trumba Corporation, a developer of innovative online calendaring solutions, announced today that University of Idaho selected Trumba Connect to power their campus-wide online event calendars. Trumba Connect helps universities and organizations increase event awareness and better connects them with their audiences through a comprehensive suite of tools that includes a hosted, interactive web calendar, email, and reporting services.
University of Idaho leverages Trumba's flexible event management features to provide calendaring for the entire university including individual department websites as well as a university-wide rollup calendar. Twenty-one colleges, offices and units across the University sponsor individual Trumba calendars, which site visitors can view individually or any number of calendars can be combined into one master calendar and displayed together. Trumba's powerful publishing features allow the University's audience to filter six event types (Academic, Arts and Culture, Recreation and more) and eleven audience types (Students, Alumni, Faculty, Staff and others) so that site visitors can easily find specific events of interest. Trumba's keyword search provides another helpful tool for quickly finding a specific event.
"Trumba's reputation, proven track record successfully working with many higher ed institutions, and excellent service and support were the primary criteria that led us to selecting Trumba for our university-wide master calendar," notes Brett Morris, Director of Strategic Internal Communication for University of Idaho. "We spent several months evaluating dozens of calendar solutions. Once we selected Trumba's hosted calendar service we were able to accomplish a lot very quickly. Trumba was extremely responsive and we have had a great experience working with their staff."
University of Idaho uses Trumba's powerful calendar sharing features to implement a workflow approval process for those departments that wish to promote some of their events to the University-wide rollup calendar. Additionally, Trumba's customizable online event submission feature and configurable approval process allow members of the University to easily submit events for publication to University calendars. The Trumba security model allows the University to secure some calendars more than others, allowing only a calendar editor or publisher to submit events; other calendars provide open submission forms allowing any student, faculty or staff to submit an event for review before publication.
"The implementation of Trumba calendars was surprisingly simple," says Ron Shaw, Web Coordinator for Division of Finance and Administration at University of Idaho and Project Manager for the University's Trumba master calendar system. "The transition from our previous system has been almost seamless. We particularly appreciate the simplicity of Trumba's interface. End users can quickly grasp how to find events either by browsing in interest areas or searching for something specific, and event planners can get events submitted for publication with little or no explanation."
Trumba's highly customizable design allows the University to easily incorporate their event calendars into their website, maintaining their branding and design preferences. "We found it easy to get the look and features we wanted so that calendars and promotional spuds appear to be seamlessly integrated into our website design," says Shaw.
Trumba's Event Actions help the University promote events, making it easy for site visitors to remember and share event information. Students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the community always see the latest events, can interact with a list of upcoming featured events to see event details, and can easily submit, search for, and filter events, add events to their personal calendars, set reminders, subscribe to RSS feeds and more. Trumba's product offering also includes features such as Single Sign-On, secure intranet-only calendars, and highly customizable event registration. Trumba's embedded calendar views can be targeted for smart phones as well as sophisticated web sites.
Before the University of Idaho switched to Trumba, less than 1% of the 20,000 member campus community (faculty, staff and students) were using their previous calendar system. With Trumba nearly all faculty and staff at their 76 physical locations (all campuses, departments, laboratories, and extension centers) can use and contribute to a single university-wide calendar. Now that the University has built a successful scalable foundation with Trumba, Brett Morris plans to expand participation through additional community calendars, more robust event types, and extensive filtering options.
