How can you tell if your event was successful? The most straightforward answer is to ask yourself if you met your goals. If you did, you were successful. However, if you didn't quite achieve your goals, there are additional ways to measure the success of your event. Live event planner, Gilbert, explains what they are:

1.   The number of event check-ins. How many people registered for the event and how many attended? Of course, you'd like to see 100% of registrants attend. But, 70% or higher is a solid turn out. You could also compare the number of attendees that that attended this year's event to the amount that attended the year before. Baring abnormal circumstances, such as a severe snow storm, you want to see more people attend each year.

2.   Attendee satisfaction. How happy were attendees at your event? A quick survey will tell you. If most attendees are happy, you did something right. However, if you want to accumulate detailed information that can help you at next year's event, ask specific questions. The more you know about each facet of your event, the easier it will be to improve.

3.   Social media mentions. The number of comments, likes, and shares your event receives can tell you a lot about how successful it was. If you were the star of peoples' social media accounts for a day or two, you were successful.

4.   Revenue. How much money did you make at the event? While this number is essential, interpret it carefully. You may have experienced record numbers this year, but if attendees weren't satisfied with the event, attendance may drop next year, which could mean a drop in revenue as well. You also want to compare your profits to your expenditures. Ultimately, you want to see a healthy net profit and several happy attendees.
