JOLIET, Ill., Dec. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Safely navigating through traffic in perfect conditions is a challenge in itself. Doing so in the snow, slush, and ice that cover Illinois roads in winter, however, is a much more difficult task that leads to more collisions. Bill Jacobs Mazda, a branch of a Joliet, Ill. auto group, is helping drivers recognize the importance of safety in new vehicles by highlighting the benefits of Mazda's three Top Safety Pick+ models.
The 2014 Mazda 3, Mazda 6, and Mazda CX-5 were the three models that earned the highest safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
To earn the Top Safety Pick+ designation, vehicles must receive a Good rating in moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint tests. They must also earn a rating of Good or Acceptable in the small overlap front test. Lastly, the vehicles are required to achieve a score of Basic, Advanced, or Superior in front crash prevention.
The crash prevention aspect of the test is new for 2013, as the + designation was awarded to vehicles that help prevent collisions in addition to keeping passengers safe after a collision occurs.
That accident prevention can be largely attributed to the i-ACTIVSENSE features on new Mazda vehicles. By using radar, cameras, and infrared lasers, Mazda drivers can get a better sense for their surroundings, leading to better defensive driving and ultimately, fewer accidents.
Only 22 vehicles in the entire automotive industry earned the Top Safety Pick+ designation for 2013. Due to their safety and overall excellence, Bill Jacobs Mazda continues to point out the benefits and affordability of the latest releases from Mazda to its customers.
Interested parties can get behind the wheel of any of the Top Safety Pick+ Mazda models or Mazda's uniquely designed minivan by scheduling a test drive online at www.billjacobsmazda.com. Find out more by calling the dealership at 815-741-6975.
