DENVER, Jan. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- People with mobility issues have come a long way in getting improvements made in making their everyday life more accessible. One area that remains for improvement is automobile transport. Certainly there are a lot of companies available that make aftermarket accessories available to the mobility community in Colorado. However, there is a bright light on the horizon in the form of Vehicle Production Group's MV-1. Medved Autoplex is proud to have the MV-1 in Denver as a part of its new vehicle lineup.
Starting in 2006 when the Vehicle Production Group was formed, the company has worked under one overarching philosophy, "Aftermarket is an afterthought." VPG designers intended the MV-1 to be purpose built from the beginning to serve those with mobility issues while giving them as much freedom and dignity as some who has full use of their legs.
"This is the first and only vehicle of its kind that is purpose built for people with disabilities," Tim Meyers, MV-1 Sales Manager of Medved Autoplex said. "The MV-1 was designed from the ground up for moving people in wheelchairs."
Because of the body on frame construction, the MV-1 is very well suited for taking wheelchair users off road. Because of all the fantastic out of doors activities available in Colorado, the MV-1 is very popular with the adaptive sports in Colorado community. And there is one Medved customer that has taken full advantage of MV-1's truck-like performance.
Staff Sergeant Matt Keil, U.S. Army (retired), has always been an avid outdoorsman. Tragically, during his second deployment overseas, he was severely wounded by a sniper's bullet. After long time recovering and a lot of determination from his wife, Tracy, the Keils were able to use a program through the Veteran's Administration to purchase an MV-1. SSgt. Keil has used the MV-1 to go on hunts for both moose and elk. Something that likely wouldn't be possible without the purpose built mission of the MV-1.
Medved Autoplex is very happy to have been able to put Matt Keil into his MV-1. Other than its inherent ability to help people with mobility issues from place to place, it also is the only vehicle that allows someone in a wheel chair to "ride shotgun" an experience many people have not had in a very long time or for some, ever.
