The Green Grid to Present On Resource Efficiency at DataCenter Dynamics' Converged London Event

Industry leaders will share collaboration initiatives on November 20, 2013

PORTLAND, Ore., Nov. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- With a mission of driving resource-efficient computing, improving productivity and minimizing the environmental impact of data centers globally, The Green Grid will share its strategic priorities and collaborative initiatives at DataCenter Dynamics' (DCD) Converged London.

Now in its 12th year, this DCD event has grown in importance for the data center and IT infrastructure community and is billed as the world's largest peer-led data center conference and expo. Converged London will take place November 20-21, 2013, at the ExCel ICC in London, with a program that will provide insight into the operational, tactical and strategic issues driving innovation in the industry today.

The Green Grid Workshop track, which will be held on November 20, 14:30 – 17:30 GMT, includes the following sessions:

  • Data Center Lifecycle Assessment: Critical Factors and Evolving the State of the Art: Presenters Christophe Garnier from Schneider Electric and Dean Nelson from eBay will provide a first-hand view of leading edge developments in The Green Grid's Data Center Lifecycle Assessment (DCLA). This method will be contrasted to other methods for viewing resource efficiency practices and participants will learn how the DCLA may be used for their own companies, as well as how it benefits the data center industry.
  • Resource Efficiency Policy – A Worldwide Government Engagement Approach: Rona Newmark from EMC will introduce The Green Grid's resource efficiency focused approach to government engagement worldwide, including the structure and strategies for this effort. The "three C's" of the strategy -- collect, coordinate, create -- will be discussed, as will current regulatory issues.
  • European Union Data Center Policy and How to Get Involved: Presented by David Snelling from Fujitsu and Rona Newmark from EMC, this session will provide a summary survey of current European Union Data Center Policy initiatives and explanation of how to get involved.
  • Driving Resource Efficiency via Industry Collaboration: In this workshop, led by Ian Bitterlin from Emerson Network Power, participants will discover how to get involved in industry collaborations via strategic initiatives of The Green Grid and will have the opportunity to provide input on new work for The Green Grid to consider.
