BOSTON, April 8, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- TBHA is holding its 40th Anniversary Celebration and Auction on April 8th from 5:30 to 8 PM at the Boston Harbor Hotel's Wharf Room. The event is once again generously underwritten by the Boston Harbor Hotel and Legal Sea Foods and over 300 additional sponsors and auction donors.
Over $100,000 of New England-area products and experiences will be auctioned off in both silent and live auctions. This year, in recognition of the organization's 40th year of service to Boston, the auction includes special Boston-focused packages of goods, services, activities and other only-in-Beantown treats. For example,
- The New England Aquarium's President Bud Ris will lead a behind-the-scenes tour of their new Giant Ocean Tank for four, including the opportunity to shake hands with an octopus or say hello to a seal!
- Ameriprise VP Larry Post and his wife Valerie Post are offering wonderful Boston Harbor and North End outings for four and for eight including lunch and a sail on his 50-foot sailboat Kayla, therapeutic massages at BodyWaves Massage, dinnerat The Point and a fitness package at Fitness Together.
- For an unforgettable Independence Day, Alison Nolan of Boston Harbor Cruises and Ann Rand of the USS Constitution Museum have donated two tickets on a narrated luncheon cruise to see Old Ironsides fire a 21-gun salute and a priceless commemorative medallion made out of copper from the ship itself. Jasper White's Summer Shack added a $100 gift certificate to enjoy a lobster bake before fireworks on the Esplanade begin.
This gala celebrates 40 years of progress in Boston—progress that brought us a clean, vibrant harbor, with a strong working port and new construction along the waterfront taking advantage of the HarborWalk and the spectacular view. TBHA is very proud to have played a leadership role in this revitalization and in the development of the HarborWalk, a remarkable asset to Boston. As we work to complete the HarborWalk, we turn our attention to promoting and enhancing Boston's waterfront as the world-class destination it has become.
The April 8th event is TBHA's annual fundraiser and provides more than a third of the funds we use to cover the waterfront by monitoring development planning, running a Summer on the Waterfront arts festival, running Harbor Bound field trips for Boston-area public school students and working to help the city prepare for increased storm surges and sea level rise. THBA is deeply grateful to the more than 300 sponsors and auction donors and the 400 event participants for their generous support. Individual tickets are $125 and available on line at http://tbha40th.eventbrite.com or at the door. Dinner and drinks are included in the ticket price.
