Rentricity Wins "Best in Water" Award from Global Cleantech Cluster Association

New York City Cleantech Company named for excellence for innovative energy recovery solutions for water and wastewater operators

NEW YORK, Nov. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Rentricity Inc. announced today it was named "Best in Water" by the Global Cleantech Cluster Association. Winning the GCCA Later Stage Award for Water demonstrates Rentricity's significant success in the growing cleantech industry and validates its innovative Flow-to-Wire solutions as a leader in the water sector. Rentricity was nominated for the award by GCCA Member Cluster, The Accelerator of a Clean and Renewable Economy known as NYC ACRE, in May 2011 shortly after the Company completed a 62 kilowatt dual turbine installation for the City of Keene, New Hampshire, making it the first energy neutral water treatment facility in the United States.

"Our Top 10 winners are truly the best in class and companies to watch," says Ben Taube, Chairman of the GCCA. "In each category, these companies are making both broad strides in their global industries as well as working closely with their regional cleantech clusters to build sustainable green economies and jobs. We are thrilled to name them the GCCA Global Top 10 for 2011."

Rentricity won the GCCA 2011 Later Stage Award for Water because of its focus on helping water and wastewater operators become more energy efficient.  Globally, water and wastewater operators consume 7% of the total worldwide electricity supply.  Rentricity seeks to reduce this load taking advantage of excess pressures and flows found within pressurized piping and open channels.  "I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of all those who have supported Rentricity.  And in particular, on behalf of NYC ACRE who continues to support the creation of a cleantech cluster in New York City.  The Rentricity team continues to be inspired by the recognition of industry experts and will continue its quest to create a smart and sustainable water grid." said Frank Zammataro, CEO and Founder of Rentricity.

The GCCA Later Stage Award Top 10 winners were selected from an original pool of 4,000 eligible companies represented by the GCCA's 33 member clusters. In total, the member clusters nominated 185 companies, which was later narrowed to the Global Top 30 semi-finalists and finally to the Top 10 winners. Head Judge Dr. Peter Adriaens of the University of Michigan and CleanTech Acceleration Partners led the evaluation and judging process along with 28 leading venture capital investors and cleantech serial entrepreneurs.

"These are truly the best of the best for 2011," said Shawn Lesser, co-founder of the GCCA. "The selection process was rigorous and I am proud to say these awards highlight some of cleantech's strongest stories and greatest successes."

The 2011 Later Stage Award is sponsored by Grant Thornton International. A full list of all the GCCA Later Stage Award 2011 Global Top 10 winners can be found at the GCCA website at: http://www.globalcleantech.org/awards/2011-winners/
