PHOENIX, Feb. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- It may not be close to summer yet, but things are really beginning to heat up at the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel.

This spring, the hotel is expected to host and/or sponsor a number of exciting Phoenix events that will surely get visitors excited. Here's a look at what's ahead for the iconic hotel in downtown Phoenix:

Renaissance Phoenix's second birthday: The second annual birthday bash for adults 21 and over is planned for 7 to 11 p.m. Feb 22 at the hotel on East Adams Street. The night will include Monte Carlo-inspired games, an outdoor concert featuring the L.A. Band Dave Diamiani and The No Vacancy Orchestra with special guests, a hot chocolate bar, Grand Canyon wines, Deschutes Brewery craft beer, an Absolute martini bar, live art show by Shade, shopping at Boutique A Go-Go and silent auction. Proceeds will benefit the O'Connor House, a local organization promoting discussion to inspire civil action that solves social, economic and political problems. Admission is free.

Devoured Food + Wine Classic: The downtown Phoenix hotel will sponsor the sold-out Devoured Food + Wine Classic on March 1-2 at the Phoenix Art Museum, 1625 N. Central Avenue. During this popular event, guests will be able to tap into the expert knowledge of more than 100 local restaurant owners, chefs, food producers, wine makers, distilleries and craft beer makers. Attendees can expect innovative culinary demonstrations, meet-and-greets and an enormous array of food and drink samples from the region's premier chefs and drink producers. While attending the classic, visitors also will receive general admission to the museum, home to more than 17,000 works of contemporary art and fashion design from countries all over the world.

McDowell Mountain Music Festival: The McDowell Mountain Music Fest on March 28-29 at Margaret T. Hance Park, 1202 N. Third St., is the only 100-percent nonprofit music festival in Arizona. Proceeds from ticket prices, which range from $30 to $135, benefit the Phoenix Children's Hospital Foundation and UMOM New Day Center, the largest homeless shelter for families in Arizona. The goal of the event is to promote community involvement, corporate participation and charity. As a party for the people, the McDowell Mountain Music Fest will feature a marketplace for shopping, kid's zone, silent auction and raffle, and, most importantly, music. Bands expected to play include Ben Harper, Charlie Musselwhite, Slightly Stoopid, STS9, The Disco Biscuits, Dispatch, Dwight Yoakam, Lettuce, Gramatik, G Love & Special Sauce, Allen Stone, Donna the Buffalo, Nicki Bluhm & The Gamblers, West Water Outlaws and The Floozies.
