FLEMINGTON, N.J., Aug. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Raritan Technologies announced a new relationship with Amazon Web Services to expand its search solutions through the CloudSearch Plus User Interface (UI). This search solution, which interacts with Amazon's CloudSearch product, is now for sale on the AWS Marketplace. Raritan's search UI is easily configured to access any CloudSearch collection, customizable for each company's unique interface requirements and enables mobility for content retrieval and accessibility.
Through the following features, CloudSearch Plus UI extends Amazon's CloudSearch product to offer companies a truly custom, mobile UI search experience:
- Enhanced Search: Integrated search and navigation, search within, breadcrumbs, hit highlighting, related item search, record source hyperlinking, and file type detection with icon display
- Mobility: Smartphone/tablet accessibility
- Security & Usability: Secure login, page sorting, page size, and custom help statements
- Customizable UI Elements: Logos, fonts and colors
"Organizations are moving to cloud to leverage their content as they try to extend their reach into Markets and Supply Chains," says J. Paul Banks, VP Business Development for Raritan. "Leveraging the cloud allows them to do this better, faster and cheaper. The winners will be those who learn how to utilize these capabilities to achieve competitive advantage."
Raritan has partnered with and worked with most of the top Enterprise Search engines, including Autonomy, Endeca, Fast, Google, LucidWorks (SOLR/Lucene), Verity and X1. This partnership with AWS (CloudSearch) will broaden Raritan's offerings, enabling small and medium sized enterprises to experience the benefits of high-end search and Big Data solutions at a lower price.
"Amazon's cloud infrastructure offers great opportunities to bring quality search to smaller companies," says Barry Freindlich, CEO of Raritan. "CloudSearch, bundled with Raritan tools, and coupled with the other AWS services (EC2, S3 and others) lets business decision makers and content providers shorten the implementation cycles from months or years to weeks or even days in some instances. The many challenges of implementation, testing, procurement, choosing a search engine and data enrichment strategy, as well as staffing the data center and ongoing support, are all minimized by moving to a pre-built solution on Amazon's cloud environment. Not to mention there are obvious benefits of Amazon being able to instantly scale up for high search volumes or usage scenarios."
In addition to implementing ready-to-use User Interfaces for CloudSearch, Raritan offers consulting solutions to index and enrich textual content using Semantic technologies that leverage the crowd-sourced collective knowledge of Wikipedia. Raritan's toolkits can also leverage client taxonomies, vocabularies (whitelists) or text analytic/entity extraction tools such as Lexalytics to add metadata for search. These services and solutions assist customers in addressing challenges associated with building taxonomies or tagging processes in-house to generate quality metadata.
Raritan is following a parallel path to integrate with the Open Source search tools SOLR/Lucene, now supported by its partner LucidWorks. While SOLR/Lucene may be deployed as a cloud-based offering, the solution is also available on-premise for companies with restrictions regarding hosted services and applications.
