Photo Restoration and Genealogy Firm A Light In The Darkness of Hurricane Harvey

Harvey Devastated This Houston Business, But They Bounced Back - And Gave Back.

HOUSTON, Nov. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Almost three months after Hurricane Harvey stormed through Houston, many are still picking up the pieces, including business owners who found their livelihood destroyed by the devastating storm.

One such business was Heritage Photo Restoration and Genealogy.  That company's owners lost not only their business but their entire home as well.

"We were very fortunate in that we were above to rescue all our photographs, but our studio was an absolute wreck. We lost our home and many of our belongings.  The one thing we noted was that strangers came from everywhere to help us. At the time, we only hoped we would be able to give something back" said Jack and Sandra Lesley, owners of Heritage.

"We've now relocated to our new home and office, and thankfully, our business has increased by 300% in the time since. I can't even begin to tell you how grateful I am that we were able to recover so quickly. Things were looking very bleak for us, but now we are moving forward to the future with a lot more hope than we've had at any in recent months."

As Hurricane Harvey raged across the coast, thousands of people were forced to confront the loss of many possessions and damaged family treasures. Many found that photographs of loved ones had been almost irreparably damaged – but one little company that does photo restoration in Houston, the chaos marked an opportunity to offer hope to others.

News of the company's offer to perform free photo restoration for any victim of the hurricane spread fast, and 311 people brought their damaged pictures in the hope that Harvey hadn't stolen at least one thing from them.

"I am so grateful, this single picture was all I had left of my Dad," said one customer who used Heritage's service to restore a photograph damaged by Hurricane Harvey. "I don't know what I would have done if the flood had taken it and Heritage did not restore it."

Heritage is now fully operational again after the move and is ready to help people keep their treasured memories and photographs in top condition. The studio also offers a professional genealogy service which helps people to trace their roots back hundreds of years, and often back to the "old country."

"It's about the memories for me," said Mr. Lesley. "Life often throws us curveballs, and having good memories on the wall is a great way to relieve stress and remind yourself that this – whatever it is – this will pass. They give you hope, and they remind you that life is also beautiful, too. We help people to stay in touch with that."
