Pennsylvania Employers Targeting Veterans to Fill Job Openings

Pennsylvania virtual career fair connects employers with veterans and military spouses

PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Veteran Recruiting, the recognized leader of virtual career fairs for the military community, along with many of Pennsylvania's leading employers will host the Pennsylvania Virtual Career Fair for Veterans on October 23rd.

The virtual career fair will allow veterans, military spouses, and employers the opportunity to connect live, as if in person, but from the comfort and convenience of their home or office.

"Being an employer who is based in Pennsylvania, and knowing the wealth of talent that veterans in the state possess, we are more than proud to host such a great event. We look forward to adding to the more than 34,000 veterans that have already  been hired by participating in the virtual career fairs"  Stated Kevin O'Brien, Managing Partner, Veteran Recruiting

The companies who will participate include;

Airgas, Brinks, Comcast-NBC Universal, Convergys, DaVita, Dollar General, Exelon, Graybar, Lowe's, Pfizer, Sears Holdings, Sungard, The Mission Continues, Travelers, Verizon, Waste Management, and Wells Fargo

"As a leading media and technology company, Comcast and NBCUniversal fully embrace the ability to connect with prospective employees through the latest in virtual career fairs, especially when their target is reservists and veterans," said Will Baas, Executive Director, Talent Acquisition for Comcast whose responsibilities include military and campus initiatives.  "Headquartered in Philadelphia with over 13,000 employees across Pennsylvania, our company has a long history of attracting, employing and supporting veterans in the workforce because we know the leadership and character they bring to the job.   Our goal to hire 2,000 veterans over a three year period is well ahead of schedule, and we are very proud to bring our career opportunities to job seeking veterans in this innovative way."

Since September 2011, more than 34,000 veterans and military spouses have been hired with the companies who have participated in the Veteran Recruiting virtual career fairs

Unlike a traditional career fair, the virtual career fair never closes. The employer booths are always available, and the veteran can research each company, view/apply for jobs, chat live with recruiters, and send recruiters direct emails if they are offline. They can participate from anywhere in the world with a computer and internet connection.

In addition to the Pennsylvania Virtual Career Fair, Veteran Recruiting will also host the Veterans Day Virtual Career Fair on November 11, 2013.  More than 24,000 veterans and military spouses, and over 50 of America's leading employers are already signed on to participate.
