Onarga Academy names Leya Barrett as Clinical Director

ONARGA, Ill., Oct. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Leya Barrett has been named Clinical Director at Onarga Academy, Onarga, IL. She was formerly a Clinical Supervisor at Onarga Academy.

Barrett has been with Onarga Academy for 20 years, taking on a number of roles within the Academy. She started her career as a Case Manager and then became a Unit Coordinator. These two roles prepared her to become a Family Therapist, a position she held at Onarga Academy for 9 years.

While in her Family Therapist role, Barrett co-presented about using Expressive Arts Therapies at local and national trainings, as well as co-authored book chapters on the same topic. She then continued on her career path to become the Clinical Supervisor of the Academy's Program 1, "The Field of Dreams," which serves youth between the ages of 11-14 with sexual behavior problems.

Barrett says she finds pleasure in expanding her knowledge and finding new and creative ways to engage her clients in the treatment process. She also enjoys facilitating the professional development of her teammates through LCSW supervision, training, and support.

"The experiences and knowledge I have received at Onarga Academy have prepared me for my new position as a Clinical Director," she said.

Onarga Academy Executive Director Dennis Wiley said, "Leya has been a leader in treatment innovation and milieu management, and she is excellent at supervising and developing staff. We welcome her to our leadership team."
