NICE, France and DENVER, June 28, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Boutique specialty coffees of Ethiopia and Panama origin, produced by Ninety Plus Coffee, received worldwide recognition in seven recent National barista and brewers championships, and also earlier this month at the World Championship at the Melbourne International Coffee Exhibition (MICE) in Melbourne, Australia.
Individual competitors using coffee produced by Ninety Plus are reigning 2013 national champions in Korea, Canada, Italy and Greece. At MICE on May 23-26, champions from fifty one (51) nations competed and coffees produced by Ninety Plus were represented in 3 of the top 6 finalists.
Ninety Plus Coffee is a green coffee production and distribution business that sells its coffee to specialty coffee importers and roasters in over 40 countries around the world. The enterprise currently owns a 180 hectare coffee estate in Panama, and co-produces on farms in Ethiopia.
Speaking from the World of Coffee exhibition in Nice, France yesterday, Joseph Brodsky, founder and CEO of Ninety Plus Coffee said, "Ninety Plus Coffee is recognized as being in the highest echelon of boutique specialty coffee production and distribution companies in the world by its international clientele of importers and roasters. Our commitment to quality and innovation across the "farm to cup" supply chain manifests in our ratings by The Coffee Review of taste profiles consistently scoring 94 points or more."
The boutique specialty coffee category is the fastest growing segment in the vast global coffee business. These coffees trade at substantial premiums to the overall commodity prices in the industry.
"We believe our company is positioned to capitalize on the shift in the coffee business similar to the shift in the wine business of a few decades ago. Educated consumers and early adopters are embracing the merits of distinct varieties of coffee that can be tied directly to region of origin, and quality of processing, roasting and brewing," said Brad Forst, President and Chief Operating Officer. Our business growth is reflective of this accelerating trend," Forst said.
The World Champion finalists and the coffees used in their competitions are Francesco Sanapo/Italy/Nekisse N2; Jung In-Sung/Korea/Lotus H2 Tray 10; and, Josh Tarlo/Canada/Lycello W2 Estate 10.
