NAPERVILLE, Ill., April 25, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- If many of us were to take all of our interests and put them on a list and add all of the various items we needed to do them, we would be shocked at the amount of things we would need to carry around. Please excuse the hyperbole for a minute and take a look at two of the most popular crossover SUVs available in the United States and allow the experts from Toyota of Naperville to compare the 2013 Toyota RAV4 vs. the 2013 Chevy Equinox. Both crossovers have the qualities people are looking for in a mid-size SUV. Both have space for things that hobbies require. Both are more nimble than larger SUVs. And finally both are surprisingly easy on the cost it would take to fuel them.
The 2013 Toyota RAV4 near Warrenville, IL has recently gone through a bit of a redesign. Toyota designers have removed the spare tire that was housed on the rear gate and have changed that feature from a side-hinged design to a more contemporary top hinged design. The new RAV4 is also outfitted with a four-cylinder engine that turns out an efficient 176-horsepower that will record an Environmental Protection Agency estimate 24 miles per gallon (city) and 31 mpg on the highway with the standard front-wheel drive option. The RAV4 also has an all-wheel drive option. The Chevy Equinox also comes with a standard four-cylinder engine, but is a little harder on gasoline; recording 20 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
Both vehicles also come with more than their share of cargo space, while still offering room for up to five passengers thanks to a similarly designed folding rear seat. The new Toyota RAV4 has 38.4 cubic-feet of cargo space with the rear seats deployed for passengers. When the seat is folded down that space rapidly expands to a cave-like 73.3 cubic-feet. The Chevy Equinox is still a strong competitor in this area, but comes up a bit short when compared to the RAV4, with 31.4 cubic-feet of space with passengers and 63.7 cubic-feet without rear passengers and the seat folded down.
