Out of 47 compelling submissions, the three winners were:

  • Mariah Girouard of West Springfield, MA, who is entering her sophomore year at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, studying English with hopes of going to law school.
  • Marika Thomas of Tacoma, WA, a mother of three, who is entering her freshman year at the University of Phoenix, studying criminal justice.
  • Morgan Johnson of Mount Airy, MD, who is entering her freshman year at Penn State University, studying forensic science with the goal of joining the FBI.
