MTA/NYC Transit And Cerebral Palsy Associations Of New York State Partner With Brandemix For Travel Training And Zero-Fare Initiative Training Video

NEW YORK, Jan. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The Metropolitan Transportation Authority/NYC Transit and Cerebral Palsy Associations of New York State have selected marketing and communications agency Brandemix to produce a video that promotes CP of NYS's Travel Training program and the MTA's new Access-A-Ride MetroCard, a Zero-Fare Initiative for Access-A-Ride customers.

The initiative, which is available to the MTA's current Paratransit customers, allows eligible residents to ride all accessible New York City Transit bus and subway and MTA Bus, routes for free up to four times a day, utilizing a special MetroCard.

Claire Greer, Vice President of Quality Management at Cerebral Palsy Associations of New York State, added, "We're very proud of our Travel Training Program, which provides personalized instruction for traveling independently on a round-trip bus or subway route. The MTA's new program means that the individuals we serve will have the freedom to travel in all five boroughs, free of charge."

Greer says that the Brandemix video is the perfect way to promote the initiative. "Brandemix has created video content for us in the past that was compelling, touching, and effective. We know their keen understanding of media messaging will speak to our population and their families, and move them to sign up for this valuable training."

"We want to empower as many riders as possible," said Michael Levy, Director of Travel Training at the MTA. "This video provides crucial information and encourages disabled New Yorkers to learn more about Travel Training and this exciting new program." Levy pointed out that, while Paratransit provides shared-ride door-to-door service by reservation, the new program applies to all existing accessible bus and train routes. "Brandemix will help us ensure that all of our riders have greater flexibility in making and changing their travel plans," he added.

"We are very happy to work with CP of NYS again," said Brandemix President and Chief Brand Officer Jody Ordioni. "We truly believe in their mission to support those with developmental disabilities. Filming vignettes in all five boroughs will provide us with the ideal backdrop for educating people with disabilities, their families, and their caregivers about this great program. Taking public transit will enhance so many people's sense of independence and empowerment, and we're proud to be a part of it."

The video is currently in pre-production and is expected to be released to the public in early 2014.
