MPOWERD's Luci Lantern Featured at Rock Art Love Ball

NEW YORK, March 12, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- MPOWERD is joining forces with Rock Art Love to launch a unique campaign that will bring innovation and resources to thousands globally who live off the electricity grid or live on the grid but are the victims of emergency situations or disasters.


Luci, MPOWERD's solar-powered lantern, is the highlight of this campaign, and will be featured as part of an auction at the first annual Rock Art Love Ball on March 12, 2013. Attendees will bid on a $50,000 auction package that will provide Luci's solar powered lanterns and a green energy grant opportunity to a community in Mexico, the home of 2013 Rock Art Love Honoree Carlos Slim and the host country of the Homeless World Cup Finals in Mexico City in October 2012.

The First Annual Rock Art Love Ball will honor philanthropist Carlos Slim for his commitment to homeless and humanitarian heroes around the globe, Grammy Award Winning Songstress Chaka Khan for her 40 years in music and entertainment, Oscar Nominated Director Lee Daniels of Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire

Producer of Monster's Ball starring Halle Berry, and his latest movie The Butler starring Oprah Winfrey, Forrest Whitaker, Jane Fonda and Cuba Gooding Jr., Grammy Award Winning violinist Miri Ben-Ari, and Founder of the Homeless World Cup Mel Young.  

The night will include a tasting of vintage wines from NYC's own Manon of Maison Dellos soon to open in Manhattan's Meatpacking District, and an exclusive dinner by Chef Roble of Bravo TV's "Chef Roble & Co."

Guests will be encouraged to donate through a live auction including a piece from Belgian artist, Kito Mbiango, benefiting the Homeless World Cup, an annual soccer tournament hosted by countries around the world to encourage sport for development to for homeless communities. My art aspires to be reflection of an emerging global consciousness which transcends the boundaries of nations, prejudices and poverty and demonstrates the overwhelming unity of humanity much like the powerful work of the Homeless World Cup," said Kito Mbiango.

Proceeds from the event will support the Homeless World Cup, which unites programs and organizations to positively impact the lives of homeless and excluded people around the world.
