Movieville International Film Festival will be kicking off its third year of outstanding international and national independent films showcasing, at the Sarasota Film Society's Burns Court, Sarasota, Florida movie theater complex, the filmmaker and the art of character driven storytelling within the film genre, September 19 through 22, 2013. Apart from showcasing the work of local producers, Movieville will present special screenings of Behind the Gate, a breathtaking documentary on the world of horse racing starring Joe Pesci and award winning crime thriller, Real Gangsters starring Margot Kidder, Robert Loggia and Steven Bauer and more than 40 more films.
The festivities begin September 19th with a sizzling event at Florida Studio Theater's Cabaret with the stars from Beautiful Noise, a locally produced music themed film from Steve Tatone. Jay White, world renowned Neil Diamond cover artist will be arriving from Las Vegas to perform hits as well as stars Kimber Cleveland, hailing from Nashville and Sarasota's own, Danielle White.
Friday, September 20th kicks off the festival at Sarasota Film Society's historic Burn's Court at 6:30 PM with the special screening of the Edgar Allen Poe adaptation of, "Ligeria" entitled, The Tomb, featuring Sofya Skya, a Russian born prima ballerina and actress. Wes Bentley and Eric Roberts co-star in this horror-thriller. The juxta posed opening night film is Blind Pass. A very cool indie thriller starring the legendary Armand Assante. The thriller has its roots in Sarasota and is a locally produced gem that is the brainchild of Steve Tatone who resides in the Sarasota area and is a prolific producer who will be showing two films in the festival this year.
The festivities include an array of events beginning with a one of a kind Show Biz Expo at The Hub. Running 12-5 on Friday, the 20th, this is the go to happening for anyone interested in any aspect of movie production.
That evening after the opening night, commencing at 8:30 pm Movieville is proud to host its first annual Art Jam at The Hub, which features a live creation of a one of a kind masterpiece by Adriana Oancia and live DJ music by DJ Yoda. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Center for Building Hope.
Saturday's festivities include a beach party commencing at 6 pm at the quintessential waterfront venue of Tarpon Pointe along the Manatee River. Guest will sway to the groovy tunes of Big T and the Tornados under the stars. VIP guests will arrive by the glorious yacht, The Algorythm. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Manatee Children's Services.
Sunday is the finale of the festival marked by a VIP Gala event at Sarasota's own Classic Car Museum. Guests will arrive in grand style marked by a bevy of beautiful automobiles, equally classic talent and a glamorous fashion show. Café Baci will cater the event and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to United Cerebral Palsy of Sarasota-Manatee. Jonathan Cortez will be performing as well as choreography from Empire Ballroom Studios of Dancing with the Stars fame together with a couture fashion by Zhanna Kens.
