Mormon Choral Organizations on Billboard Again With 'O Holy Night'

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., Nov. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- "O Holy Night," the first-ever Christmas album of Mormon Choral Organizations (MCO), debuted at no. 3 on Billboard magazine's traditional classical chart following its early November release.

The album features nearly 1000 singers and instrumentalists, including children, teenagers, and adults, from MCO's locations in Orange County, Calif. and the East Valley of Phoenix, Ariz.

"We are astounded and incredibly grateful for those who helped create this work of musical art celebrating the Savior's birth," said Susan Stephensen, MCO Executive Director. "It could not have happened without the parent volunteers, choral participants, orchestra members, directors and recording crew, as well as those who provided us the use of their beautiful facilities for optimal acoustics."

The album includes Christmas favorites such as "Go Tell It on the Mountain," "Carol of the Bells," "What Child Is This?" and title track "O Holy Night." The album is conducted by MCO Founding Musical Directors Brandon Stewart and Brett Stewart, the latter arranging all fifteen songs on the album.

"We are blessed to have Brett [Stewart]'s prodigious, eloquent arrangements and settings at our disposal." said John Huntington, bass section leader and occasional soloist with the organization's California-based ensemble. "His distinctive compositional voice, while surely influenced and respectful of the masters, keeps the choir and orchestra fresh, relevant, and meaningful amid an ever-shifting trendiness in popular choral and orchestral music.  His music is both accessible and impassioned, but never shallow or pretentious.""O Holy Night" will be available through iTunes, CD Baby, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, as well as select local retailers in California and Arizona.

The organization will hold their annual Christmas concerts in both California and Arizona. In Orange County, the concert will be on November 30th at Segerstrom Concert Hall ( and in Arizona on December 1st, at Mesa Arts Center (
