AUBURN HILLS, Mich., May 25, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Things are looking up
Memorial Day weekend is one of the biggest car buying holidays of the entire year. All signs indicate that this year's holiday will be the biggest yet, and car buyers around the country should be able to capitalize on this better than average opportunity and find the best cheap new and used cars for sale.
The automotive industry has taken its punches in the last few years, but overall it seems like it is back on the right path. GM and Chrysler flew dangerously close to the sun but managed to not get burned. After flirting with bankruptcy, both American auto makers have really turned things around.
Last Memorial Day, Japanese auto makers, especially Toyota and Honda, were recovering from the natural disasters of April 2011 and faced supply shortages that really hindered their sales. Over a year later, it now appears they are stronger than ever.
Even the holiday itself has been gaining momentum in recent years. The last two years, Memorial Day weekend saw a jump in total local car deals. In 2010, it accounted for nearly 15% of the total sales for the month of May, and in 2011 it was about 13%. The average for years in the past was about 10%.
What can car buyers can get out of it?
One of the easiest ways for dealers to get more sales is to bring in more potential buyers with all kinds of incentives, rebates and promotions. Every local car dealership will have them, and even some manufacturers themselves have extended their offers through the weekend.
Just because it is projected to be such a big car buying holiday doesn't mean this is the only good time to buy a car. Just like any other time of the year, car buying is still a tremendously important decision. Before you sign on the dotted line, it will make all the difference in the world to get informed.
You can find everything you need to arm yourself for this Memorial Day weekend online. Compare rebates and incentives, check out sales prices, and compare all your options side by side to make sure you're getting the best deal.Media Contact:
