ATLANTA, July 11, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- "Versailles '73: American Runway Revolution" continues to gain momentum across the globe with the announcement that American designer Marc Jacobs' Bookmarc stores will carry the award-winning film in its highly curated stores in New York, London, Paris and Los Angeles. The film will also be featured in the Marc by Marc Jacobs store in Savannah, GA, the hometown of the film's writer/director Deborah Riley Draper.
Versailles '73: American Runway Revolution follows the iconic fashion face-off at the Palace of Versailles on November 28, 1973 between five prominent American designers --Anne Klein, Stephen Burrows, Bill Blass, Oscar de la Renta, and Halston -- and five prolific French designers-- Yves St. Laurent, Christian Dior, Hubert de Givenchy, Pierre Cardin and Emanuel Ungaro. In front of a who's who audience of royalty and icons including Princess Grace of Monaco, Andy Warhol, Christina Onassis, Liza Minnelli and Josephine Baker, the event left an unforgettable imprint on the fashion industry and ushered in a collective of Black models who broke the color barrier on the runways.
"We are thrilled to be on Marc Jacob's shelves among such amazing limited editions, signed collectables, and the array of Book Marc-branded goods", says filmmaker Deborah Riley Draper.
Versailles '73, narrated by vintage fashion impresario and Bravo TV star Cameron Silver, features rare archival footage and commentary by some of the fashion industry's most respected names including Stephen Burrows, Pat Cleveland, Bethann Hardison, China Machado, Grace MIrabella, Norma Jean Darden, Didier Grumbach, Harold Koda, Mikki Taylor and many others. The film has been recognized and awarded by critics and fans alike, including the 2013 Elle Croatia Fashion Film Festival, Denver Film Society, the cultural program of the 2013 L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival and 2012 CNN Outstanding Documentary at Martha's Vineyard African-American Film Festival.
The film is distributed on VOD platforms via FilmBuff and is available via iTunes, Amazon Instant View, YouTube Rentals, XBOX, Sony PlayStation, and Vudu and is available in North America, UK and Australia. For more information on the film, log on to www.versailles73movie.com.
