LOOP-LOC, Manufacturer of Pool Liners, Discusses Backyard Winter Landscape Designs

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., Dec. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- LOOP-LOC, manufacturer of pool liners that services New Jersey, discusses backyard winter landscape designs.

The leaves on the trees and blooms on the plants have disappeared for the winter months—making it a little more challenging to craft a winter landscape. Choose trees that still have texture and color, such as birch trees and dogwoods. Their bark and branches are also distinctive, which will add interest to your backyard. Trees and shrubs with berries will provide beautiful, colorful accents.

Evergreen trees are not just for Christmas. They can be the focal point in a backyard throughout the year, and the fact that they come in many varieties and colors will add to your winter landscape. Choose a blue spruce, Gold Thread false cypress, or a Western red cedar.

Make use of your summer window boxes and hanging baskets for evergreen winter accents such as holly and rhododendron. Choose different colors and textures, and add some twigs. Be sure to water them during dry periods.

Since you will be relying less on flowers during the winter, it is a good time to add items such as a bench, trellis, or garden sculpture. Install some low-voltage or LED lighting. It will accent the landscape while allowing you to enjoy your hot tub, bird watch, or view wildlife in their natural habitat. Install pavers on pathways, as they thaw quickly. A heating element can also be placed on walkways to keep them at a temperature of approximately 40 degrees, which will allow them to remain thawed so people can walk safely on them. For stone accents, source them locally when possible. If they come from a location where the weather is similar, they are more likely to last throughout the winter.
