SEATTLE, Sept. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- LocalBlox founder Sabira Arefin, announced that Charles Dyer will be stepping up as the company's interim CEO. Dyer is a member of the LocalBlox advisory board, joining the firm earlier this year. He was a Director for the Bing Mobile, Local and Commerce Advertising team, and has extensive experience with start-ups.
"I am personally thankful to Charles for serving as our interim CEO," said Arefin. "We're in the midst of some important strategic conversations and Charles can really help lead the company to the next level. We'll gain immensely from his experience and sharp business acumen."
Arefin will continue to work on new LocalBlox initiatives during Dyer's interim leadership, while he concentrates on the company's transition to its new focus of big data play. "We're excited about Charles' continued support and help. We're looking forward to his leadership and guidance to move forward," said Arefin.
Dyer works closely with his fellow LocalBlox advisory board members, Dane Madsen and Merrill Brown. Madsen is a well-known entrepreneur and the founder of YelloPages.com. Brown is a start-up mogul and former editor-in-chief for MSNBC.
LocalBlox started as a consumer site to help neighbors connect to their neighborhoods. Different features of the site, local news, crime, events and business services, were built and mapped to neighborhoods with the purpose of serving communities.
Dyer will lead LocalBlox's transition to a hyper-local-mobile company leveraging its aggregated Big Data About Place Platform. LocalBlox has built highly-scalable neighborhood platforms, aggregating more than 23 million local business profiles and millions of local content across 112 thousand neighborhoods, providing businesses with the tools to create and syndicate mobile events at their local stores.
LocalBlox is driven by a big data engine to mine the Web for facts and content, access various sources, cross-validate and extrapolate to obtain an accurate and comprehensive view of neighborhoods.
"What has impressed me about LocalBlox is its ability to aggregate unstructured data from disparate sources into a meaningful set of data around place and time. This real-time capability allows LocalBlox to not only provide the freshest set of data about a neighborhood or business, but also allows the company to provide insight about the engagement by neighbors and consumers."
"We're very thankful that Charles has been kind enough to support us as interim CEO," said Arefin. "Under his leadership, LocalBlox will continue to grow and meet our vision for the company."
LocalBlox serves over 112,000 communities and neighborhoods throughout the U.S. and includes 23 million business profiles. The firm encompasses a multi-faceted, big data approach that includes business services and those developed for the individual. The company offers apps for multiple platforms, mobile marketing, a business directory, discussion forums, social media integration, and the means to collaborate with other business owners for the benefit of both.
