Latitude Group Signs Agreement to Offer IEEE Computer Society Certification Training Courses

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., Nov. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Latitude Group has become the latest training company to sign on as an IEEE Computer Society Registered Education Provider and will be offering a variety of its software development preparation and training products to its customers.

Based in Bangalore, India, Latitude will offer the IEEE Computer Society's Guide to the Software Engineering Body of Knowledge (SWEBOK), the SWEBOK Certificate Program (SCP), and the Certified Software Development Associate (CSDA) and Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) credentials.

"We are very excited to be utilizing our numerous local resources and staff to offer the expert IEEE Computer Society courses to our extensive network of companies and technical professionals southern India. IEEE Computer Society is extremely well regarded for the quality of their education training," said Poornima Shenoy, founder of the Latitude Group.

In commemoration of the tie-up, IEEE Computer Society 2013 President David Alan Grier and Executive Director Angela Burgess will be visiting with Shenoy and other Latitude officials in Bangalore from December 4-6.

Latitude strives to meet the needs of corporate India with the seamless delivery of professional development programs of global certifying bodies such as the IEEE Computer Society. Its goal is to improve employability and ensure the career growth of India's technical professionals. Among Latitude's customers are IT services and embedded software companies.

"We are pleased that Latitude has joined us as a Registered Education Provider," said Burgess. "Having Latitude as a REP will greatly increase the awareness of IEEE Computer Society software development certifications and educational training products within the technical community of southern India, where much technological innovation is taking place."

The SWEBOK Certificate Program, consisting of four learning modules with 25-plus hours of instruction each, was created to raise a university student's understanding and proficiency of the SWEBOK Guide's 15 Knowledge Areas. Each completed module will result in a certificate. By completing the four modules, a student will have a solid understanding of the software development lifecycle. This will give students an excellent foundation as they embark on a career in software development, and provide a stepping stone to the CSDA certification.

The CSDA, designed for entry-level software developers, is intended to provide undergraduate computer science and software engineering students their first credential toward a solid career foundation as a software development practitioner. The CSDP, designed for mid-career professionals, helps software developments demonstrate their commitment to the profession and confirms their proficiency in the software development field.

As part of IEEE's India Initiative, the IEEE Computer Society is now extending its benefits to Indian technical institutions, especially the faculty and students of computer science, software engineering, information technology, and software applications.
