JOLIET, Ill., May 30, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- After previous reports that the Kia Sedona would not return after the 2012 model, Kia announced the minivan will rejoin the Joliet Kia lineup in 2014. With a redesign that includes everything from new tires to interior updates, the Sedona will look to regain its share of the minivan market in the coming months.
Although Kia didn't make major adjustments from the previous Sedona, there were some significant tweaks that will help it make an impact in the minivan segment. Among the unchanged features is the 3.5-liter V6 engine that makes 269 horsepower and 246 lb.-ft. of torque. That engine will be coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission and is estimated to produce 17 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway.
As for tweaks and upgrades, Kia gave its minivan an updated grille that is a little larger than its predecessor while also adding LED positioning lamps and standard fog lamps. The minivan also will get new 17-inch tires that will help boost performance and handling. While a complete redesign may be in the minivan's future, the 2014 version will bring back the value customers have come to expect from the Kia Sedona.
It terms of family-focused vehicles, the Bill Jacobs Kia lineup also includes the seven-passenger 2014 Kia Sorento. While the Sedona minivan will reach a different group of customers than the Sorento, both appeal to growing families who are constantly on the road with a vehicle full of passengers.
