MONTGOMERY, Ala., July 31, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Integrated Computer Solutions, Inc. (ICS) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract by the Florida Department of Environment Protection (DEP) to develop and manage two critical, proprietary applications for the Division of Waste Management (DWM). The new contract is valued at over $1.1M per year, supports over 400 employees and field engineers across the state of Florida, and is expected to save the agency more than 40% of the prior year's expenditures, according to Office of Inspector General reports.
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection Division of Waste Management recently completed development of the Florida Inspection Reporting of Storage Tanks (FIRST) and Solid Waste Informational Field Tracking (SWIFT) applications to help protect the environment from the improper management of petroleum storage tanks and solid and hazardous wastes. FIRST is a mobile application used by inspectors in the field as they conduct petroleum storage tank inspections. Similarly, SWIFT utilizes FIRST technologies to conduct solid waste and hazardous waste inspections. FIRST and SWIFT program users include local governmental staff throughout the State of Florida, private contractors, and DEP staff. Under the new contract, ICS will provide ongoing management of the FIRST and SWIFT systems, as well as the enterprise workflow that supports these systems.
ICS has a successful history of improving the efficiency and productivity of both standard and proprietary applications for the Florida Department of Environment Protection. In 2010, the DEP Office of Technology Information Services awarded ICS a maintenance and support contract for applications deployed within DEP. Saving the State of Florida more than 30% and over $600,000 in the first two years with improved pricing and increased productivity, the ICS service arrangement was recently expanded to include 28 applications across six divisions.
"The Florida Department of Environmental Protection Division of Waste Management is leading their field by leveraging the latest technology to improve the services provided to the citizens of Florida in the most efficient manner." said Chip Schuneman, Chief Operating Officer for ICS. "It is an honor for ICS to be able to help DWM field engineers conduct inspections and report inspection data remotely in a manner that is secure, efficient, and cost-effective," he said.
