ICD-10 Dilemma - House Passes the Bill aimed at delaying ICD-10

The House passed a bill that would push the implementation of ICD-10-CM/PCS to October, 2015.

DURHAM, N.C., March 31, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The US House of Representatives has passed a bill that would delay the implementation of ICD-10-CM/PCS for another year. The bill, which mainly covers the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) for Medicare payments, also includes a seven line section that states that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) cannot implement the ICD-10 code set until October 1, 2015, a year later than the current deadline.

The focus now shifts to the Senate, which must consider the bill before it finds its way to the President's desk. Although, ICD-10 implementation has been delayed, it should not put a stop to your preparation. The delay has provided the much-needed time to tie-up the loose ends. AudioEducator's specialty-specific ICD-10 training is a resource to help customers get ahead of the ICD-10 requirements.
