HondaLink technology keeps Austin drivers on track behind the wheel

Howdy Honda shares benefits of application-based infotainment system

AUSTIN, Texas, April 29, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Over the years drivers have had to increase their ability to multitask, even when behind the wheel of their vehicle. Honda has created a system that will allow drivers to stay connected to their most vital contacts and enjoy their favorite applications while remaining safe and focused on the road ahead. This application-based infotainment system is HondaLink, which is made up of two generations available in a variety of new Honda vehicles

Comprised of two distinct programs, the HondaLink system is an innovative way for drivers to balance their daily lives while traveling. The first system is the HondaLink First Generation, which grants drivers with compatible smartphones access to their social media platforms, music and contacts. The system's HondaLink Featuring Aha App can be found in the 2013-2014 Honda Accord and Crosstour, along with the 2014 Honda Odyssey and Accord Plug-in. The system is also available with the HondaLink EV App, which is available in the 2013-2014 Honda Fit EV and 2014 Accord Plug-in.

The second system available is the HondaLink Next Generation, which is currently only available in the 2014 Honda Civic EX models and above, as well as the Hybrid, Si and Natural Gas models. With this new system, drivers are able to download four applications -- HondaLink App Launcher, HondaLink Aha App, HondaLink Navigation App and HondaLink Connect App. These applications provide drivers with weather and traffic updates, 3-D navigation, restaurant ratings and access to phone contacts.

The goal of these systems is to accommodate drivers and their hectic schedules. As people are spending more time commuting or traveling in their cars while still being expected to respond quickly to incoming e-mails, text messages and phone calls, it is important for them to have a safe solution that won't distract from their travels.
