Heritage Toyota kicks off food collection drive

Dealership accepting donations in showroom through Nov. 17

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt., Nov. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- One of the things that put Heritage Auto Group and Heritage Toyota out in front of the competition is the company's commitment to supporting the community that supports them. As the weather has turned colder and the calendar flips into November, thoughts begin to turn to the holidays. Most of us won't give bellying-up to a nearly overflowing table of turkey and all of the fixings. However, there are many in our community that doesn't know when, or even if, they are going to have something to eat tomorrow – much less on Thanksgiving or beyond.

Heritage Toyota and Heritage Ford are stepping up and have launched a food collection drive at both locations, ending on Nov. 17.

Given such a short time to collect the donation, Heritage Toyota and Heritage Ford have turned the effort in gathering canned and other non-perishable food items into a friendly competition. The two teams will also be joining the Queen City Saints at Bluebird Barbecue on Nov. 19 from noon to 4 p.m. for one last gasp before delivering everything they have to the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf. The teams will be delivering the collected items in a pair (or more hopefully) of specially designated pickup trucks.

Additionally, the Heritage Auto Group will be making a donation of the equivalent $1,000 worth of turkeys for the supplemental grocery program at the Chittenden facility.

Anyone can view the Heritage Toyota inventory by visiting the dealership's website, www.heritagetoyotacars.com. The showroom is located at 1620 Shelburne Road, South Burlington, VT, this is also where people can drop off their donations. Those with questions may reach out to the showroom by calling, 802-865-8200.
