ARMONK, N.Y., Feb. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Heavenly Productions Foundation is a not for profit charitable organization dedicated to helping children in need or in distress. It is comprised of an executive board and members who wish to promote volunteerism and goodwill in an effort to help lift despair in children. We encourage the participation of our volunteers to help raise awareness as we offer hope to children in need. Heavenly Productions Foundation plans on focussing the backpack projects in 2013 to schools that were affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Heavenly Productions Foundation has produced various projects to raise money to help children in need. The first project was the creation of the "Heavenly Lullabies CD" which helped the Babies & Orphans of 9-11-01 and the second project, "Heavenly Skies & Lullabies Illustrated Song Book & CD" helped the children affected by Hurricane Katrina. Since 2003, Heavenly Productions Foundation has donated money, Heavenly Lullabies CD's, Heavenly Skies & Lullabies Books/CD's and supported the following organizations: the Twin Towers Orphan Fund, World Vision, Operation Gratitude, St. Vincent's Midtown Hospital, Habitat for Humanity in Kansas, Kips Bay Girls & Boys Club, New York-United Cerebral Palsy Foundation, Blythedale's Children Hospital, Maria Fareri Children's Hospital and the March of Dimes. "We wish to welcome our new executive board member, Mr. John Wallace to Heavenly Productions Foundation and are confident that he will contribute greatly in building on the past successes of our charity and engage in new opportunities so that our foundation will help more children in need," stated Dr. Kathy Reilly Fallon, Co-Founder and Chairwoman of Heavenly Productions Foundation in Armonk, New York.

Mr. Wallace played basketball while attending Syracuse University and led them to the NCAA Men's College Basketball championship game during his senior season in 1996. After his college graduation, Wallace played seven seasons in the NBA. He was drafted 18th overall in the 1996 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks. He played for the New York Knicks, Toronto Raptors, Detroit Pistons, Phoenix Suns and the Miami Heat. After his NBA career was done, he went on to play basketball in Europe in the Italian league. He also debuted as an actor in the movies He Got Game (1998) and Bamboozled (2000).

In 1998, he was the runner up of the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award while with the Toronto Raptors. John was also voted Community Service Man of the Year for his dedication to youth in the city of Toronto. In 2010, John was honored with the 28th Vic Hanson award for his ties to the Syracuse University Men's Basketball Program and for making an outstanding contribution to college basketball.

Mr. Wallace is now retired from basketball but still works for the New York Knicks organization and actively coaches AAU basketball in Rochester. Wallace and his friend Modie Cox met through AAU basketball when they were in High School and has played with and against each other for years. They have now united to expand the "Winning Because I Tried" program outside of Upstate NY. "The 'Winning Because I Tried' message teaches children ages 8-18, that success is in your effort, not the final outcome. In reality, it's not about the win or loss, it's about believing in yourself and doing the best you can! The goal is to make youth better prepared for what life has to offer. This is accomplished by using fun games, activities and lectures. This method captures the child's attention and will also foster good physical activity in children."  For more information on this organization, go to : www.winningbecauseitried.com
