Dr. Harry Koster has been practicing in New York for over 20 years and is specially trained in cornea and external diseases of the eye. After receiving his Bachelors of Arts degree in Biochemistry at Columbia College, Dr. Koster received his medical degree from Southwestern Medical School, Texas. He then returned to Manhattan and interned at New York Hospital/Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital. He completed his ophthalmic residency training at New York Eye and Ear, the nation's first eye specialty hospital, located in the heart of New York City.
Dr. Koster's interest in refractive surgery and LASIK led him, before LASIK was even FDA-approved in the US, to pursue a prestigious fellowship in refractive surgery in Hotel-Dieu, Paris, one of the leading eye hospitals in France. Following his fellowship in Paris, Dr. Koster completed another refractive surgery fellowship at Harvard Medical School where he continued to investigate surgical therapies for refractive errors.
Dr. Koster comes from a long tradition of skilled physicians. His grandfather, Harry Koster, was a pioneering general surgeon in Brooklyn 70 years ago, performing many innovative surgical techniques, often with limited anesthesia. Dr. Koster's father, Robert Koster, was one of the preeminent internists in Dallas, TX.
