WEST BEND, Wis., Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- GrandCare Systems® announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas today, a partnership agreement under which Saga, the UK's largest in-home care provider, will incorporate GrandCare's touch-based digital health monitoring and socialization technology into their care service offerings.
This is a giant step for the remote monitoring industry as international player, Saga, shows the world how digital health technology could complement domiciliary care services for the over 50s.
"We are honored to have been chosen by Saga as their go-to-market technology for enhancing the 50+ services in the UK," said GrandCare Founder Charlie Hillman, "the GrandCare technology takes away distance as a barrier to communication and care, benefiting our aging population with familial socialization and the connectivity of the Internet."
As a simple-to-use alternative to a computer, the features of the Saga service will include functionality for the family to upload photos, add calendar events and send messages to a simple touch-based socialization. This will enable easy access to social media, content from the Internet, and one touch Skype calls with children and grandchildren. These features are critical to help overcome the very real and damaging effects of social isolation. The system will also have the ability to issue reminder prompts, activity of daily living monitoring, and medication management.
Tim Pethick, Chief Executive of Saga at Home commented, "As the largest provider of domiciliary care services in the UK, introducing a simple device to help individuals to keep in touch with family and friends was a natural step. With families increasingly living farther apart, this system will help combat social isolation amongst older relatives, as well as giving the individuals and their families the reassurance needed to enable independence at home, for as long as possible."
The Saga service powered by GrandCare Systems will officially launch in the UK in early 2013
GrandCare Systems will be exhibiting within the Digital Health Pavilion at CES 2013 in the Las Vegas Convention Center, LVCC S Booth# 26629
