ORLANDO, Fla., May 24, 2011 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- At first, Matt Law's Four Step Marketing Consultants, might seem like every other business opportunity. After all, business opportunities come and go. More often than not, they are get rich quick type of scams, where the only person making money is the person selling the kit, ebook, or system. Most of these type of businesses sell pipe dreams of millions of dollars made overnight. I was anxious to see why Matt's business was different and what he was doing to get so much attention.
Four Step Marketing Consultants is probably the most unique business opportunity I've ever seen in my many years of reviewing business start-ups. Yes, I have followed many young entrepreneurs, but what I learned at this past April's training class was nothing short of amazing. Although I didn't come as a new consultant, I did come as Matt's guest as he asked me to cover this story and write about it.
The first thing that struck me about his business is that Matt, isn't your average success story. During my interview with him, I asked him some tough questions about what he states in his marketing material. I dug in deep and asked about the bankruptcy, foreclosure, and how he learned about marketing and outsourcing. His replies shed a lot on the character of this young and passionate marketer.
"I really didn't try to start a marketing company. I just wanted a job and I couldn't get one in the financial or real estate field. Who's going to hire a guy with a 400 credit score, a bankruptcy, and a pending foreclosure? I was willing to take anything to keep food on the table and that's when I got a job with a marketing company in Orlando. Well, I really didn't get the job. They hired me and taught me a little before my actual start date. Then I got the call that the economy was headed south and they weren't going to need me. That's how I got started in this business. I figured, if this guy can do it, then I can do it too."
The first thing I noticed about Matt and his wife Sarah, and practically the entire group of people is that they were people of very strong character and many had a religious background. I was pretty curious about Matt's faith and background and why one of his main target audiences for the Four Step Marketing program was Christians. Matt shared, "I am first a Christian and then a business man. But I believe what God has put in my heart for the Four Step Marketing Consultants program is much, much bigger than me. Yes, our consultants are doing well and making money. That's great! But what would happen if there were an army of consultants, well trained and experts at marketing, who helped their local church? Actually, one of our consultants is already helping a church, and I'm stoked for him." As we talked, Matt shared about his ultimate vision to create a nonprofit ministry which sole purpose is to build the church with innovation and marketing.
During the training, Matt was all business. You could see that he was serious about getting the consultants trained. There were people there from all across the country and from all walks of life. From Olympic gold medalist to lawyers and pilots, it was pretty amazing to see how many different types of people where there. It was a small group, but they all had one thing in common. They wanted to work from home, run their own business, and learn the four steps of marketing from Matt. During the first couple of days, Matt covered the four steps and after about the 2<sup>nd</sup>day, the light bulbs started going off all over the room and the consultant's confidence soared. Matt also took an example of a pool builder and worked his business from the ground up using the four steps. He then took that project and posted it on an outsourcing website and within an hour he had a complete website proposal for the pool builder. I could see the new consultants foaming at the mouth to get started once they saw the big picture.
The rest of the week was a blur as Matt covered billing systems, receiving payments, dealing with outsourced staff, naming your company, and running the business. Friday was dedicated to marketing and using the watering hole marketing method for generating business. What I will tell you is that Matt connects with his audience and fills them with the information in a powerful way. He closed out Friday with a heartfelt prayer for his new consultants. What happened next, really shocked me. The new consultants all stood clapping and thanking him for the training. Honestly, I've never been in a training where people spend $10K+ to attend and give that kind of appreciation. Matt glowed!
Fast forward 45 days from the training. How are the consultants doing? That is the real question isn't it! Are they making any money? I expected to hear "Not yet", as Matt told them in the training it would take about 45-60 days to get their business set up. I asked Matt the question on our follow-up call and I was surprised when he told me that over 20% of the class had already made some money from their new business. Some of the consultant's new clients were churches, flooring companies, a boat repair shop, a church, and a lawn care company. He added that many of the other consultants have business in the works and it is just a matter of time before they really get moving. He also shared that more than half of the consultants had their businesses completely set up.
There is no doubt in my mind that Matt and his organization will continue to see great success and their numbers prove it. The March and April trainings were completed sold out and August is nearly full.
