Former Accountant Larry Smith Purchases Bahama Buck's Franchise

New Shaved Ice Shop Allows Owner to Invest in Temecula Valley's Easy-Going Lifestyle

TEMECULA, Calif., Dec. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- For more than 30 years, Larry Smith held a successful career in corporate America as an accountant and IT professional. But the time he devoted to his career kept him from ever feeling truly connected to Temecula Valley, where he resided with his wife and daughter. Committed to getting back in touch with his community, he decided to open a Bahama Buck's franchise that would allow him to revive the relationship he so valued.

"The ability to provide a family-friendly place for people to chill out on hot days has fulfilled our vision of supporting the Temecula Valley lifestyle that so many people move into the area to enjoy," Smith commented.

To finance the venture, he employed the assistance of Guidant Financial. With their knowledge of small business financing, Guidant facilitated rolling over funds from Smith's retirement account to invest in the new franchise without taking a taxable distribution — a process formally known as a Rollover Business Start-up (ROBS).

"[Guidant] handled every detail and served up the necessary paperwork and ongoing management processes that took all of the learning curve out of the picture," Smith said. "They were very attentive and available for anything we needed."

Bahama Buck's offers its customers a chance to 'flavor their life' with a tropical dessert experience. Selling over 100 flavors of shaved ice, smoothies, cold coffee drinks, flavored soda, lemonades/limeades and other products, the franchise itself is committed to providing the perfect atmosphere for customers to relax and connect with friends.

"People say it's a big risk and that we will spend unbelievable hours [promoting our business]," Smith said. "But 14 hours in my shaved ice store feels like four, and everyone is having a good time. It's a whole lot better than the 24/7/365 agenda that most corporations have adopted."

Bahama Buck's in Temecula, located at 32475 Temecula Parkway, G104, is now open for business. For more information, call 951-303-3360, email lsmith(at)bahamabucks(dot)com or follow them on Facebook at facebook.com/BBCA1201.
