GAINESVILLE, Fla., Nov. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- ABC Research Laboratories, an independent, third party food safety testing laboratory headquartered in Gainesville, Florida, announced an expansion in its ISO/IEC 17025 accredited services this week. These accreditations join ABC Research's existing ISO certifications, stretching back to 17025's implementation in 1999. The food testing facility continues to grow its portfolio of accredited services in order to adapt to the changing face of food safety regulations.
"The greatest part of these accreditations is the improved experience they will provide for our clients through expanded range of services and security of results," commented CEO Eric Graves. "Dedication to personalized service, coupled with superior scientific practices, is the foundation of ABC Research Laboratories' success, and I am thrilled to continue to build on that foundation."
These most recent accreditations include testing methods for pesticides in food by GC/MS/MS and LC-MS/MS by the Quechers method and nitrofurans, fluoroquinolone, chloramphenicol, melamine, malachite green, and crystal violet. The addition of the pesticides will strengthen ABC Research's ability to provide analytical testing to Global GAP fruit and vegetable growers and processors and the addition of the antibiotics and melamine bolsters their position as one of the leading food testing labs specializing in chemical adulterants in foods.
"To achieve this scope expansion, our chemists and quality assurance team members have worked tirelessly to perfect our methodologies and show proficiency in accuracy and precision in detection," remarked ABC Research Laboratories Chief Scientific Officer Gillian Dagan. "Although these analyses are based on official methods, much work goes into perfecting each extraction and detection strategy for maximum efficiency. They also excelled in our recent audit by A2LA. I applaud the efforts of our chemists and QA folks in recognizing the importance of the jobs they do and the necessity to do their jobs in a timely manner. It is that attitude that drives ABC Research Laboratories to greater heights in food testing."
The International Organization for Standardization, widely known as ISO, is an international standard-setting body composed of representatives from various national standards organizations. Its 17025 accreditation is the main ISO standard used by testing and calibration laboratories, and is regarded as the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.
ABC Research Laboratories is one of the largest food testing labs in the United States. Founded in 1967, ABC Research serves the entire spectrum of the food industry from pathogen and pesticide residue testing to nutritional labeling and appliance benchmark testing.
