Fillmore CEO, John Reinhardt, Named Brooklyn Realtor ® of the Year

Presitgious award given to head of metro area's largest independent Brokerage

BROOKLYN, N.Y., Jan. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Once a year, a single Realtor ® out of the almost 3,000 in Brooklyn, NY is chosen due to exemplary performance in both their personal and professional lives. John Reinhardt, CEO of the largest operating Brooklyn real estate brokerage, was recently selected as its  Realtor ® of the year due to his outstanding leadership at Fillmore Real Estate, his industry knowledge, and his community involvement. This prestigious and coveted award is given based on peer nomination and Board selection.

Reinhardt has always been an advocate for making sure everyone has accessibility to home ownership. Recently, he spent several days in Washington, D.C. directly campaigning for continued FHA approval of an affordable housing development of Canarsie condos that Fillmore Real Estate was representing. Through these efforts, dozens of families were able to attain home ownership when they otherwise might not have been able to. "It's great, it's a great feeling," says Reinhardt. "Everyone always wants to make a difference. To think that one person could drive down to the Capitol and do something that gets 70 families into their own home is incredible. Anyone with drive and motivation can accomplish anything they set their minds to."

Through organic growth and and a salesforce of people intimately familiar with the Brooklyn neighborhoods where real estate is sold and rented, Fillmore has been able to connect with the changing face of Brooklyn and its real estate market. "The neighborhoods are all always evolving," Reinhardt explains. "Park Slope and Williamsburg real estate isn't anything like it was 20 years ago. In order to continue to be Brooklyn's leader in the industry, we've had to adjust and grow with each neighborhood and community." Reinhardt continues to explain the importance that civic involvement plays in establishing the relationship that is unique between a Brooklyn real estate brokerage and its residents. "We profess to be experts, and the only way to truly become one is to be a part of the community you serve. Whether it's a street festival in Bay Ridge, a parade in Flatbush, or the flea market in Williamsburg, we're there. We participate, we encourage, and we support the activities of each neighborhood and its small businesses. Brooklyn is truly the best place in the world to live."

Most recently, in light of the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy,  Reinhardt formed and headed the Fillmore Cares organization. Fillmore Cares was able to raise well over $10,000 in cash, donations, and medical supplies in a short amount of time and dedicated countless man-hours in the effort to recover from the havoc that made national headlines. Reinhardt continues, "Our main office is in South Brooklyn; it truly hit home. To see the homes in Sheepshead Bay, Coney Island, Gerritsen Beach, and several others in the area destroyed was extremely impactful. In addition to donating our time for cleanup and restoration, we were able to raise much needed funds that went toward food, safety equipment, clothing, and household necessities." Outside of the necessities that were purchased and donated, Fillmore Cares also handed out hundreds of hand warmers to workers and residents as a cold front swept over the affected area. "We bought them on a whim," Reinhardt concludes. "They were ancillary to all of the necessities we were providing, but they were probably our biggest hit. The line for hand warmers was longer than the line for hot food sometimes! Despite the tragedy that hit so many, we felt privileged to be able to have an impact that might have made someone's life slightly easier as they struggled to recover."

Fillmore Cares continues to operate in recovery efforts, and will remain indefinitely to support the Brooklyn Community in the future however possible.
