Esquire Magazine Names 2014 Mazda6 Sport among Top 3 Values

Mazda's flagship sedan earns recognition outside automotive industry

JOLIET, Ill., May 31, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The 2014 Mazda6 has been decorated with awards and revered by automotive publications since its release in early 2013, but now, it is receiving attention from one of the most well-known American pop-culture publications — Esquire Magazine.

The June/July issue features a spread entitled, "The 3 Best Cars for Less Than $30K," which highlights some of the best new car values in the auto industry. The 2014 Mazda6 sat atop that list, in large part due to its charm, performance, and overall sporty feel.

The sedan's sports car mentality comes from Mazda's Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that outputs 184-horsepower, which Esquire Magazine's Sam Smith said, "is just powerful enough to feel fast."  Mazda Skyactiv engines utilize high injection pressure and compression ratio to help get every last mile out of each tank of gas, and it shows.  With top-of-class fuel-economy estimates throughout the 2013 Mazda lineup and into 2014 with the Mazda6 reaching up to 38 MPG on the highway, it appears as though Mazda has found an ideal blend of power and fuel-efficiency.

Perhaps that is why the Mazda6 earned such a rave review in Esquire Magazine.

"There are now thousands of people out there driving competent, boring cars not because they want to but because they don't know any better," Smith said in the article."

The enjoyable ride, sporty performance, and fuel-economy combine to make the 2014 Mazda6 Sport one of the best values in the automotive industry and one of Esquire Magazine's 3 Best Cars For Less Than $30,000. While it isn't in the same sports car class as the 2014 Corvette Stingray near Chicago, IL, it is one of the more practical, fun-to-drive sedans available today.
