MADRID, Dec. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Venezuelan energy company Derwick Associates has been honored as a part of the 2013 Capital Awards. The company received the award for "Best Latin American Initiative," the result of their Turbine Development Centre project.
The project has been viewed by many as integral to the continued operation of Venezuela's power grid, as the grid has been prone to blackouts due to its infrastructure's inability to handle the increased power demands. Derwick Associates' project has filled a significant need in Venezuela during a time of energy crisis.
The Turbine Development Centre has improved the generation capacity and has greatly reduced the incidence of power failures explains the company Directors Pedro Trebbau Lopez and Francisco Convit Guruceaga.
"This recognition is very nice for our company, as it validates what we have been trying to do as a business for several years," said a representative with Derwick. "Our main goal, however, is not to receive accolades for the work that we do. Our goal is that the work that we do benefits the people that we serve, in this case, the people of Venezuela."
Venezuela has certainly endured its fair share of struggle, and the energy crisis is yet another difficulty that its citizens have had to deal with. Derwick Associates was able to step in at a time when many other companies were unwilling, and they were able to deliver on contracts for 12 power plants to rejuvenate the power grid. Now, the addition of this Turbine Development Centre project will serve to further secure the reliability of Venezuela's energy.
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of Derwick's success in the past few years is their ability to function incredibly well despite aggressive demands on the time necessary for a project's completion. It seems that every project that Derwick has completed has been so vital to the country's function that strict time demands had to be met.
"As we always say, we try to do what is best for our countrymen," said the representative. "In many cases, rapid development and installation of these projects is what is best, so we do what we can to serve the people of Venezuela. We are very happy to receive some recognition for those efforts."
