MIAMI, Feb. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Dade Medical College welcomed Congressman Michael Grimm to the Miami Campus on Friday, January 27, 2012. College President and CEO Ernesto Perez lead the Brooklyn and Staten Island representative on a tour of the college's main campus, giving the congressman a first-hand look at what private-sector career colleges are doing to help educate tomorrow's healthcare work force.
"By introducing last year's PATH (Improving Physician Access in Teaching Hospitals) Act to congress, Representative Grimm has demonstrated an understanding of the limitations and shortfalls that currently face our healthcare system," says Perez. "Dade Medical College will continue to offer outcome-based career opportunities to those seeking careers in our sector and working alongside like-minded public servants can only help our cause."
Representative Grimm, first elected to Congress in 2010, has distinguished himself during a professional career trajectory that has taken him from serving in the U.S. Marines during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, earning a Combat Action Ribbon and Meritorious Unit Commendation, as a Special Agent for Federal Bureau of Investigations working to undercover to expose fraud on Wall Street to private business as CEO of Austin Refuel Transport, a Texas-based bio-fuel company.
Perez, recently appointed to the boards of Enterprise Florida and the South Florida Hospital and Healthcare Association, is a firm believer in providing gainful employment opportunities by offering quality postsecondary education and training in the form of Associate and Bachelor of Science degree programs. Dade Medical College is in the process of opening additional campuses in Jacksonville, FL and West Palm Beach, FL.
