Curtains Rise on an Historic Wedding Reception Venue at Courtyard Boston Downtown

Certified wedding planner at downtown Boston hotel offers tips and incentives

BOSTON, Feb. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- For many newly engaged couples, finding the perfect reception site starts with creating a list of requirements.  The location needs to be central and convenient; the event space should be stunning and memorable; the service staff must be experienced and professional; and the party costs should fit within the wedding budget.

At the historic Courtyard Boston Downtown, Marriott Certified Wedding Planner Katherine Friedman is very familiar with these expectations.

"Determining the reception location is one of the most important event planning decisions a couple will make," she says.  "Touring venues can be a bit time consuming, but it's a critical step in the decision-making process, and it's also fun."

To encourage couples to consider the downtown Boston wedding venue, from now through March 31, 2014, every 15 site tours will be entered to win a one-night hotel stay with breakfast included.

"We wanted to offer a little something extra for those who tour our hotel," Friedman said.  "This is a unique venue, well located, beautiful and historically significant, with a seasoned staff that's ready to set the stage for your special day."

Located at 275 Tremont St. in the heart of the theater district and just steps away from the Boston Common, the Courtyard Boston Downtown is truly a hidden gem.  Originally built in 1925 as an Elks Club for traveling entertainers, the hotel in downtown Boston features glittering crystal chandeliers, stately fireplaces and dramatic architectural details throughout its 13,000 square feet of lovingly renovated event space.  In addition, 315 guest rooms are comfortably appointed, and a new restaurant and bar, Post No. 10, opens this spring.

"This building lends itself to glamour and romance," Friedman said.  "Photographers tell me they love working here.  The stunning backdrops, along with the classic black, white and grey renovation color schemes, make for absolutely luminous wedding photos."

Friedman joined the Courtyard Boston Downtown team in late 2013.  Previously with Marriott, she served social event customers locally in Greater Boston, as well as regionally, in a territory that stretched from New Jersey to Delaware.

"Of all the different types of events I've managed, wedding receptions are my favorite," she said. "When the fine details come together on the couple's wedding day, it's always so satisfying!"

Executive Chef Robert Bruno, with 17 years of culinary leadership, works closely with Friedman on each social event.  Together with the downtown Boston hotel's experienced culinary and banquet teams, Friedman and Bruno enjoy collaborating with wedding couples to create beautiful and memorable receptions and delivering the highest level of service for every downtown Boston wedding.

Event menus feature fresh, local ingredients, artfully prepared and presented.  Packages, which start at just $84 per person, include: one hour hosted bar, with one bartender per 100 guests; butler-passed hors d'oeuvres and one stationary hors d'oeuvres display; chilled champagne toast; elegant three course dinner; custom designed wedding cake; private photo room; complimentary overnight accommodations for the bride and groom; discounted room rate for overnight guests; menu tasting for bride and groom plus two guests.
