CSI Academy of Florida Announces University of Florida Partnership

ALACHUA, Fla., March 17, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The CSI Academy of Florida is pleased to announce their partnership with the University of Florida. The two organizations have entered into a three-year educational partnership to enhance learning and research in crime scene technology and forensic science.

"This partnership recognizes the strengths of each educational program, which allows us to address the growing demand for forensic science knowledge," said CSI Academy Dean Tony Falsetti. "The collaboration will create a supportive, educational environment for law enforcement pursuing a master's degree or certificate in forensic science."

The three-year agreement includes the development of a crime scene and forensic material collection track in UF's Master of Science in Forensic Science program, with an emphasis on creating hands-on, scenario-based training to enhance the online forensic science programs. Select CSI Academy courses will now count toward credit at UF. The CSI Academy and UF also plan to create a national forensic science and crime scene technology consortium to serve as a model for international colleagues.

"Partnering with CSI Academy is an exciting opportunity for our forensic programs and our students. Students who wish to gain hands-on experience in crime scene and evidence processing will now have the opportunity do so through CSI Academy courses taught by world-renowned experts in state-of-the-art facilities. We look forward to working with Dr. Falsetti and the CSI Academy group," said Donna Wielbo, Director of UF Forensic Science and Forensic DNA-Serology Programs.

The academy currently specializes in educational and training for individuals and law enforcement officers interested in crime scene investigation and offers International Association for Identification (IAI)-approved courses. Certificate program options will also become available to CSI students.

The focus of the two-year master's in forensic science program at UF currently includes Principles of Forensic Science, Forensic Toxicology and Drug Analysis, Biological evidence, DNA Analysis and Blood Spatter Interpretation, Expert Testimony and Quality Assurance Procedures.
