Could Blockchain End Home Repair Price Gouging for Consumers?

Bob's Repair is using blockchain to bring honesty to the home repair industry.

LAS VEGAS, Feb. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Blockchain company Bob's Repair is building a decentralized platform run by blockchain which aims to eliminate price gouging and false reviews in the home repair industry. Specifically, the platform will give consumers the ability to view previous prices paid to home contractors by other customers for the same repairs as theirs. The goal is to enable ultimate price transparency in an industry that has historically had rampant price gouging. Consumer reviews for each contractor will also be tied directly to verified financial transactions in order to eliminate false reviews that threaten the transparency of the platform and consumers' best interests.

Additionally Bob's Repair seeks to lower the cost of home repairs overall for consumers by providing a platform for both consumers and contractors to connect without charging any transaction costs, which on other platforms would ultimately be passed on to the consumer.

The project is being funded by an ICO that has already raised 6,000 Ethereum in its pre-ICO funding round. Bob's Repair was founded by brothers Frideric and Alexandre Prandecki. Frideric, as CEO, saw a major need in the market for a platform that was more cost efficient for both consumers and contractors and also brought much needed transparency to the industry. The team's CTO, Brandon Kite, worked for The Walt Disney Company as a Sr. Software Engineer and helped create Disney's multi-purpose enterprise blockchain solution and then was the lead developer for Dragonchain ICO, which went on to raise nearly $14M.
