Chris Stern Announces Important Changes in SWOT Methodology

In the ninth chapter of his evolutionary Web Book Web Book on, Chris Stern publishes important changes in the SWOT methodology.

RALEIGH, N.C., June 20, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Back in 2004 Author Chris Stern has already revolutionized the SWOT methodology in his book "Total Customer Focus". Now Stern has added another major step to improve usability of this indispensable business administration tool.

In chapter nine on BizIsSimple.Com, author Chris Stern first advocates for a pragmatic approach to situation analysis and compares advantages and disadvantages of traditional and new ways in company analysis.

The author then reiterates the morphological approach of his proprietary SWOT methodology to develop optimistic (opportunities / strengths), pessimistic (threats/weaknesses), opportunistic (opportunities/weaknesses), and cautious (threats/strengths) strategies. Stern then goes on to discuss two situations that in his opinion traditional strategizing does not cover. These are super-optimistic situations that just need a "go", and super-pessimistic situations that warrant immediate abort.

Stern details the new scenarios as follows: "Super-aggressive strategies often arise out of extreme situations and allow organizations leverage where there has been none before. These are the no-brainer moments and all you need to do to succeed is to go fast." He then continues, "There are ventures that inevitably have to fail, either because of their setup, the people involved, conflicting interests, or all of the above combined. These need specific handling, including but not limited to structured retreat and elimination of negative leverage.

This chapter provides readers with an innovative way to use the SWOT in developing strategic options.

The goal of is to look at business administration in an extremely pragmatic way and to help readers find tools they can immediately apply in day-to-day business.

The web book will be an ongoing work. In contrast to paper publications, the author can add and change content based on readers' input or updated knowledge. The new chapter is called "Future Identity" and is available for immediate reading at

Every chapter comes with a downloadable presentation and the author plans to add video sequences in the near future. Until further notice, access to the site is free of charge.
