No appointment is necessary to participate in what is being called "Test Drives for Autism." Naperville is not the only site where the test drive donation program is taking place. Dealerships representing several of the major automakers will be participating all over the United States.

Turning Pointe Autism Foundation was founded in 2005 to provide children with Autism in and near Naperville a chance to go school in their own community. Then in 2011, the Turning Point Day School was opened to provide children with the adaptive and flexible learning requirement the disability required to help them learn positive coping skills through positive behavioral support and individualized programming that is specifically tailored to each child.

The Turning Pointe Career College is a next step for those affected by Autism. The Career College is a fairly new program that offers its students lessons in learning how work and function in a workplace environment through the Foundation's Employment Readiness Curriculum that offers specialized classes on such topics of applying for work, co-worker relationships and getting along with supervisors.

Autism Spectrum Disorder is a development deficit malady that affects the portions of the brain that deal with social interactions, communication skills and cognitive ability. A recent government study has indicated that 1 in 88 is affected by Autism. Children with an Autism diagnosis require specialized education in an environment that is flexible and adaptive to their individual needs.
