Boston, MA, July 2, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- axle Video, the leader in affordable media management, and MOG, the leader in centralized ingest systems for broadcast, have announced integrated solutions combining MOG's mxfSPEEDRAIL Xpress ingest appliance with axle Video's Gear media management and transcode appliance. The integrated solutions, called GearStack™, each take up less than one cubic foot of space. Each GearStack occupies 2RU (2 standard rack units or 3.5") of height, and less than 12 inches of depth. GearStack solutions start at under $20,000 complete and are available from select axle Video and MOG resellers worldwide.
The global explosion in content creation and distribution has led to growing media ingest and management requirements that cannot be met cost-effectively with traditional broadcast systems. GearStack solutions address this need with a space-efficient module or portable field pack that can capture and manage any combination of HD, SD and file-based formats. Larger deployments can harness several such modules, all connected to a common pool of shared storage. Both MOG and axle share the design approach of robust, standards-based appliances, combined with a browser-based user interface accessible by multiple users on Macs, PCs or iPads.
"We're delighted that MOG, with such a strong track record at so many of the world's top broadcasters, has agreed to partner with us to create the integrated GearStack offering" said Sam Bogoch, CEO of axle Video. "Both our companies strongly believe that the appliance model with browser-based front-ends is the preferred way of delivering broadcast-quality capabilities to a wider range of deployments. Customers needing robust ingest with media management can now do it for a fraction of legacy system cost, with no lock-in or limitations on system access. It really is radically simple – you don't need to be a broadcast engineer to use GearStack "
Rui Pereira, COO of MOG, said "As the use of HD video formats, content creation and distribution spread much more widely around the world, here is a clear need for affordable, appliance-style solutions in what was once a very limited, high end market. We are excited to partner with axle Video to create a compact system that does what once took entire racks of space and hundreds of thousands of dollars to accomplish."
Each GearStack configuration includes one axle Gear media management and transcode appliance, plus one or more MOG mxfSPEEDRAIL Xpress ingest appliances. mxfSPEEDRAIL Xpress is flexibly configured between file-based ingest, file-based and HD-SDI baseband ingest, or HD-SDI ingest only. With a standard web browser, ingests can be monitored as they occur, and ingested material is logged through the mxfSPEEDRAIL Xpress user interface. Using the same browser, users can search and browse the material, or launch Telestream transcoding through the axle Gear user interface. Network connectivity is provided through four standard Gigabit Ethernet ports, using Category 6 cabling.
GearStack is priced at $19,995 for a bundle including two file-based ingest channels; $20,995 including one file-based and one HD-SDI ingest channel, and $21,995 including two HD-SDI ingest channels. All configurations include one year of system Support. GearStack systems are available now.
Based on open industry standards and offering state-of-the-art technology, MOG has been establishing itself in the market as the worldwide supplier for both centralized ingest solutions and MXF development tools. For over a decade, MOG has been helping worldwide broadcasters and technology providers to increase the overall performance of its workflows while migrating for file-based environments, ensuring high interoperability between systems and formats.
MOG aims to exceed media challenges and to break the workflow boundaries by delivering fully interoperable solutions to the broadcast industry. mxfSPEEDRAIL and mxfSPEEDRAIL Xpress are trademarks of MOG Technologies.
