Bluewater CEO Takes a Haircut For a Cause

Live streaming event scheduled to raise money for cancer research

CLEARWATER, Fla., Nov. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Bluewater Media CEO Andy Latimer will be live streaming the removal of his "Samson Like Locks" on Thursday, November 9th at 4PM in an effort to raise awareness and money for the Melanoma Research Foundation and Wigs for Kids.

Latimer's oldest brother, Marc A. Latimer, died after a battle with melanoma cancer 5 years ago. The elder Latimer who spent over 20 years in the United States Army discovered a cancerous mole on his back around Thanksgiving 2010. After a year-long treatment at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas the Blackhawk Pilot was set to return to the air and preparing for a final flight physical when it was discovered that the cancer had spread to his brain.  Marc A. Latimer passed away June 23, 2012.

"My brother was the strongest and most caring man I have ever known and I still think of the lessons I learned from him every day. He had the determination and will to overcome any challenge and had climbed through the ranks of the Army from an enlisted man to a warrant officer and Blackhawk pilot." said Andy Latimer.

Albie Mulcahy, owner of VLVT Salon (www.vlvtsalon.com) in Saint Petersburg, will be removing Latimer's locks that he credits for his creativity and preparing them for donation to Wigs for Kids.

The event will be live streamed on Andy Latimer's Facebook page, syndicated to Bluewater Media's website and shared through multiple social media business pages including the Melanoma Research Foundation.  Latimer hopes this act will inspire others to donate their hair to Wigs for Kids that provides wigs to children fighting cancer and to share and donate to the Melanoma research foundation.

"If by telling my brothers story we can bring awareness and raise money to help research a cure for Melanoma, then we are still living by his simple life message‚Ķ "Suck It Up and Drive On!"  You can never stop the fight and never accept that failure is an option." Said Latimer.
