WATERTOWN, Mass., Aug. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- BlueMetal announces the recent addition of Bob Familiar as a Practice Director for the company's Cloud & Services Practice in the Boston office. Bob will bring his extensive experience and evangelist perspective to helping BlueMetal's clients bring their websites and applications to the cloud.
"Companies face daunting challenges today," Bob said, "such as integrating private infrastructure and emerging cloud infrastructure, securely integrating employee devices with corporate IT, dealing with the explosion of data and the ability to analyze for business impact and the ongoing effort to provide seamless and secure interoperability across the apps and platforms that have evolved over the years to run the business.
"I joined BlueMetal because the people here are the most experienced consultants in the industry covering application design, architecture and development, mobile and cloud platforms, security, big data and interoperability. After many years evangelizing the Microsoft platforms and helping developers build their skills, I'm excited to return to consulting and work alongside BlueMetal's clients, helping them tackle their most challenging business and technical problems. "
Bob joins BlueMetal at a time when the cloud business is rapidly growing. BlueMetal's Cloud & Services practice recently gained worldwide attention when the company won Microsoft's global Winning with Azure award. BlueMetal's Accountable Care solution for Steward Healthcare increased care quality and patient safety while reducing health care costs by creating a single source system to coordinate care and meet Meaningful Use Stage 2 regulatory requirements. Steward is only the second Accountable Care Organization (ACO) hospital in the country to meet these requirements. This has elevated BlueMetal's visibility and expertise as a leading innovator of modern healthcare and life sciences solutions.
"We are proud to be acknowledged by Microsoft for this award. Our strategic partnership with our client enabled us to deliver this solution at velocity, which in turn enabled Steward to reach the ACO milestone. It's a testimony to our leadership in the cloud space. I am thrilled to have Bob Familiar join our company to amplify our leadership in this space." said Craig Dillon, President of BlueMetal. "He will lead our cloud business including critical partnerships with Microsoft and Amazon Web Services."
"My passion has always been to work with the best and brightest engineers to solve the toughest problems and make a positive impact on the business," Bob continued. "My vision as Practice Director of Cloud and Services is to infuse this passion in the team and deliver the highest quality solutions for our clients. I am truly excited to join BlueMetal and look forward to engaging our clients to maximize their growth and success."
Bob's passion for people and software architecture have resulted in over twenty-nine years of experience architecting and developing scalable distributed systems that provide a great user experience. He comes to BlueMetal after 18 years at Microsoft where he was a recognized leader in developer evangelism, most recently as Director of Technology Evangelism. In that role he led the team that works with startups, students and professional developers to help them design, develop and publish mobile and cloud solutions. Prior to Microsoft, Bob worked at a number of ISVs including Dunn & Bradstreet Software, ON Technology and Access Technology. Bob holds a patent in Object Relational Database Design.
"Bob brings a wealth of experience in Cloud and Services, but more importantly he brings a passion for emerging technology and the community," said Matt Jackson, General Manager of BlueMetal's Boston office."His involvement in organizing and leading technology events will help BlueMetal maintain its presence as a thought leader in the New England area."
